PAS hosted the AASB Leadership Conference at Vila Ventura. Organized by Ms Mary Lowe, Mr Bruno Britto, and Ms Marta Voelcker, the conference was a huge success! We hosted students and teachers from a total of six different international schools from all over Brazil, and we were able to interact with them through a variety of different leadership activities and workshops. The purpose of these activities was to show the students different approaches to leadership, and help them discover their own leadership style. Activities included fun leadership themed ice-breakers and games such as a scavenger hunt and a Gincana and focused workshops such as SMART goals with Mr Jeff. We were also fortunate enough to have inspirational speakers teach our students about the importance of communication with Ana Goelzer of TEDx Laçador, focus and concentration through meditation with Sohil Agarwal, and the power of words with Ms Brijin Hales. Overall, the leadership conference was an amazing experience and I believe that all of the students walked away with a new outlook on their lives and knowledge about how to be a leader in their community.
Pedra Afiada
G6 Field Trip
Last week, from March 26 to 28, PAS G6 students participated in a field trip to the canyons, which are located in the border of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina. Nineteen students, three teachers and one security guard went to Refúgio Ecológico Pedra Afiada, a pousada located on the Canyon Malacara for three days.
Throughout the trip, students were continually challenged to take risks, work as a team and to reflect upon their attitude towards nature and the people who surround us. Once students have delivered their cellphones and other electronic devices to the teachers, they were able to enjoy a deeper social interaction for three days.
Student activities included: hiking, both on the top and on the bottom of the canyons; rappelling; swimming in a natural pool; a “luau” among the trees; a treasure hunt and, finally, the zip line.
Ms. Mary, Mr. Carlos, and Ms Monique would like to congratulate all students who went on the trip!
